Software Application Support Engineer at Siemens

Expires today

Cambridge, United Kingdom

About us and the role:

We are a small software development group based in the Siemens Digital Industries Software offices in Cambridge, UK. Our products, the D-Cubed Components, are used in a wide range of CAD (Computer Aided Design) and other related applications on platforms ranging from cloud services, workstations and laptops to mobile devices. For further information about our products and customers see
All our products are designed to solve complex mathematical or geometric problems accurately and efficiently. Although they were first released many years ago, we are continually extending and improving them to meet the needs of our customers and the users of their applications. It is no exaggeration to say that every day there are millions of engineers, designers and architects who rely on our software to do their job, and ultimately these are the people for whom we are developing our products. Our Digital Factory division offers a comprehensive portfolio of seamlessly integrated hardware, software and technology-based services to our industrial customers in order to support manufacturing companies worldwide in enhancing the flexibility and efficiency of their manufacturing processes and reducing the time to market of their products.
Our software developers work together in small teams which have ownership of one or more of the products. We develop in a collaborative way, but individuals are involved in all stages of the process from initial concept and design, through to implementation and testing. Innovation is key to coming up with solutions, but just as importantly we need to produce high-quality software that our customers can rely on.
Our Software Application Support Engineers are the link between our development teams and our customers, typically also development teams themselves. The support team creates and maintains the example code, training material and documentation for the products, responds to daily queries and issues reported by the customers and works with them to identify how to get the best out of our components for their particularly application needs. The support team is closely involved in planning the future developments of our products. In addition, the support team acts as a resource to support the development teams, e.g. by supporting the DevOps environment we use.
As well as the opportunity to solve new and interesting problems we offer a relaxed and flexible working atmosphere, and a culture of mutual respect and shared responsibility for getting the job done. Our modern office is centrally-based with good public transport links, and benefits from a range of social activities for the 200 employees who work here.
