Job Description:This role maintains and supports a High Grade Messaging system requiring detailed knowledge of various legacy military messaging protocols. It may occasionally require travel to site at short notice.
The role may include 24 hour telephone support cover on a rotation basis with other members of the project, but not initially.
Test and configure alternative solutions and fixes for everyday eventualities.
Daily contact with users and MOD stakeholders.
ResponsibilitiesCommunicate sometimes complex IT problems and solutions to users technical and non-technical.
Write and update SOPs and deliver training to the customer when and where necessary.
Proactive support for failed messages, applications and system hardware.
Liaise with the MOD and other interface providers and users.
Essential SkillsKnowledge of CMX Messaging Software.
Knowledge of NEXOR mailer software and its detailed configuration.
Knowledge of X.400, SMTP and Military Messaging legacy protocols & formats.
Military Messaging applications: ISODE, Boldon James Safemail.
Oracle database, configuration, maintenance and querying.
Windows Operating Systems (Windows 7, Server 2008, 2012 onwards).
Knowledge of system testing, configuration management and quality assurance best practice.
