JOB DESCRIPTION

Role Summary:

The Information Systems Security Officer (ISSO) provides multi-disciplinary security support for DoD government security programs. The role of Information Systems Security Officer (ISSO) requires thorough understanding and application of approaches, theories, methodologies and application of DoD compliance and regulation standards within a complex environment.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Strong working knowledge of the National Industrial Security Program Operating Manual (NISPOM), Risk Management Framework (RMF), and DCSA Assessment & Authorization Process Manual (DAAPM)
  • Communications Security (COMSEC) program administration experience
  • Ability to balance regulatory compliance with the needs of the business
  • Ability to identify security vulnerabilities in a broad spectrum of hardware and software products and provide risk mitigation solutions
  • In depth knowledge of change control, configuration management and information assurance processes and procedures
  • Experience with auditing of large network environments with multiple operating systems and applications (Windows, Linux)
  • Familiarity with writing standard operating procedures (SOP) and security in depth (SID) plans as well as security policies
  • Experience in handling security incidents and conducting investigations with little supervision
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple secure programs and assess new areas for compliance
  • Strong familiarity with RMF concepts such as CONMON and POA&M management
  • Special Access Program (SAP) experience is preferred

Qualifications/Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited university or college
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in DoD government security programs
  • CompTIA Security+ certification or higher
