An engineering position in Technical Architecture Development & Planning (TADP) Enterprise Monitoring group that will play a key role in Architecting / Planning and developing solutions for various critical on-prem and public cloud infrastructure monitoring initiatives within the enterprise. Focus is on Systems and Application monitoring tooling (e.g., IBM Tivoli products ITM6 and Netcool), open source monitoring tooling, such as the Elasticsearch framework (http://www.elastic.co) and Sensu, and public cloud monitoring services.

Responsibilities:

  • Follow good engineering practices and concepts and adhere to audit requirements and understand corporate compliance issues and requirements.
  • Develop and leverage a good knowledge of the range of processes procedures and systems to be used in carrying out assigned tasks and a basic understanding of the underlying concepts and principles upon which the job is based.
  • Apply a collaborative approach to understanding of how the team interacts with others in accomplishing the objectives of the group and apply these successfully in fulfilling the job requirements.
  • The candidate will confer with management global engineering and support teams to prioritize needs resolve conflicts and develop content that meets the requirements of the global user community.
  • An ability to plan software releases and deploy new or modified features without affecting existing functionality is expected.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum 3 years’ Engineering 3rd party software products
  • Application is on LINUX operations (resource should be comfortable navigating Linux host and executing basic commands)
  • Experience with AWS services, including EC2 and cloudwatch monitoring services.
  • Strong skillset required in Linux (RHEL) and Windows; packaging; OS concepts and services; shell scripting; regular expressions; end-to-end testing; performance/scalability testing; implementing open source solutions; product customizations; Java; JSON.
  • Knowledge of open source monitoring tools is a plus
    Working knowledge of protocols including HTTP LDAP XML Basic knowledge of security (SSL data encryption GS Kit system user accounts)
  • Understanding of NodeJS Active Directory based authentication Role Based Access Control
  • Experience with tools like Bit bucket Artifactory JIRA Confluence
  • Skills Knowledge of IBM Tivoli Monitoring 6.x, Netcool Omnibus, NOI preferred but not required
  • Previous exposure to ElasticSearch/ELK stack preferred but not required (e.g. use of Kibana is dashboard visualization builder for ElasticSearch based data)
  • Knowledge of Docker containers Kubernetes will be a plus
  • Previous exposure to JavaScript development (NPM Modules) RequireJS AngularJS CSS styles HTML Java Hands on experience working with JSON objects (nested json) regular expressions preferred but not required
