Applications are invited for a position as teaching assistant professor in Spanish language, literature and culture at the School of Communication and Culture, Aarhus University, Section for Spanish and Latin-American. The position is available from 1 August 2017.

The place of employment is Jens Chr. Skous Vej, 8000 Aarhus C.

As a minimum, applicants are expected to have a Master’s degree in Spanish language (including grammar and proficiency), history/society and literature. They should also have teaching experience at university level.

The successful applicant will be expected to provide teaching in the following subject areas at least:

- Language exercises in connection with the course called “Language and intercultural communication” (for details, please see the academic regulations https://eddiprod.au.dk/EDDI/webservices/DokOrdningService.cfc?method=visGodkendtOrdning&dokOrdningId=10304&sprog=da
- Written and spoken language exercises
- Text reading and analysis in connection with courses in literature/culture

The successful applicant will also be expected to supervise and assess Bachelor’s projects and perhaps Master’s theses. In connection with the supervision of assignments written in Danish, the position requires considerable knowledge and mastery of Danish. Mastery of Spanish at native-speaker level is also a natural requirement.

In order to maintain and develop the department’s excellent research environment, the person appointed is expected to be present at the department on a daily basis. Participation in the daily life of the programme is a high priority, and we emphasise the importance of good working relationships, both among colleagues and with our students.

This is a permanent, full-time position (37 hours per week).

The research environment in the field of Spanish and Latin-American language, literature and culture http://cc.au.dk/en/about-the-school/subjects/spanish-and-latin-american-language-litterature-and-culture/ has a wide range, with language, literature and history/culture as the primary research topics. Current research focuses on the theory of memory, globalisation, cultural identity, translation theories, learning and didactics of foreign languages, and language usage. The subject’s teaching, research and knowledge sharing is developed continually through close collaboration, for instance with upper-secondary schools. Strong links with Nordic, European and Spanish-speaking research environments are pivotal to current work in this field.
